In case you missed it: Google Cloud Security Talks, Threat Detection & Response Edition

We recently held our first Google Cloud Security Talks event of 2022. The event focused on all things security operations (SecOps) across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments. We shared product updates across the portfolio and talked about how threat detection, investigation and response fits into our invisible security vision.

In case you missed the event, we’ve put together a brief recap below. Of course, we encourage you to check out the on-demand sessions for all the details!

Our opening keynote provided an overview of how to transform SecOps and build a modern threat detection and response program that takes advantage of the speed, automation and scale of Google Cloud. The team covered our security operations vision including assisted detection, autonomous response and the need for anywhere SecOps.

We then brought together security leaders Robert Herjavec, Eric Foster, Iman Ghanizada and Anton Chuvakin to discuss the required fundamental shift in how we build scalable security operations programs and why all organizations should pursue Autonomic Security Operations to adapt to the exponential signal volume increase and complex nature of the evolving threat landscape.

Next, we focused on how to take response to the next level with our unique take on security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) through our acquisition of Siemplify. We covered the current state of response including common and forward thinking use cases for SOAR.

We also covered what’s new in Google Chronicle, our cloud native security information and event management (SIEM) solution, and dove into how our customers are using context-aware detections to enhance their security posture and to prioritize alerts.

We then pivoted the conversation to discuss how Google Cloud’s Security Command Center provides cloud-native workload protection with built-in threat detection services to quickly identify and address malicious activity across Google Cloud Platform deployments.

As a follow-up, we also covered network-based threat detection delivered at the edge of Google’s network through Cloud Armor and native network-based threat detection capabilities using Cloud IDS.

Next, we shared insights on how to improve threat hunting using actionable threat intelligence by providing an overview of 2021 VirusTotal trends across exploits, malware formats and tooling and how they might affect 2022.

Our last session provided an overview of our latest security innovations and product updates across our portfolio, including zero trust, network security, and more.

All sessions are available on-demand on our Google Cloud Security Talks page for you to reference. If you’d like to speak with a representative about Google Cloud’s threat detection, investigation and response solutions, please fill out this form.
